President Murmu Addresses IAS Inductees, Emphasises Inclusive Development And Sustainable Governance

President Murmu urges IAS officers to adopt “Nation First” spirit for inclusive and sustainable development.

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday urged newly inducted Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to adopt the spirit of “Nation First” as the guiding principle in their work, emphasizing that their role extends beyond regional administration to shaping India’s development trajectory toward “Viksit Bharat@2047.” She made the remarks while addressing officers attending the 128th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA).

Calling IAS officers “custodians of governance standards,” President Murmu stressed that every decision they make should align with the overarching goal of national development. She highlighted that their professionalism, coordination, and dedication are crucial to implementing policies that meet citizens’ needs and uphold the highest standards of public service.

“IAS officers are no longer administrators of a particular region; they are custodians of governance standards that must be maintained across the nation,” the President said. She urged the officers to transcend departmental boundaries and administrative silos to enhance institutional coherence and strengthen governance machinery.

President Murmu also underscored the importance of inclusive development, noting that India’s transformation into a developed nation would be meaningful only if the benefits reach the most vulnerable and marginalized sections of society. She encouraged officers to ensure that no community is left behind due to social, economic, or geographic factors.

Another area highlighted by the President was sustainability and climate resilience. She called upon senior administrators to champion green practices, promote climate-adaptive governance, and ensure sustainable development, emphasizing that the actions taken today will directly influence the quality of life for future generations.

Concluding her address, President Murmu reiterated that the officers’ experience, combined with a “Nation First” perspective, would be key to navigating complex challenges and contributing meaningfully to India’s vision of a developed and inclusive nation by 2047.
