India Unveils ₹16,000 Crore Fighter Jet Infrastructure Project In Andhra Pradesh

Rajnath Singh launches ₹16,000 crore fighter jet infrastructure project.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone for a ₹16,000 crore Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) infrastructure project, marking a significant step forward in India’s push for indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities. The ceremony took place in Puttaparthi, located in the Sri Sathya Sai district, and was attended by senior state officials, including Minister Nara Lokesh.

The AMCA project is expected to serve as a major backbone for India’s next-generation fighter aircraft programme. According to official sources, the infrastructure will be developed as a dedicated hub for aircraft integration, testing, validation, and certification, strengthening the country’s aerospace ecosystem under the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

Alongside the AMCA initiative, the leaders also inaugurated and laid the foundation for several other defence and aerospace-related projects, including facilities focused on drone manufacturing, ammunition production, and naval systems. These developments are aimed at expanding India’s domestic defence production capacity and reducing reliance on imports in critical military technologies.

Authorities have stated that the combined projects are expected to generate around 7,500 employment opportunities in the region, while also positioning Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub for high-technology manufacturing and strategic defence industries. The state government has highlighted these investments as a key milestone in its long-term industrial development strategy.

Following the foundation ceremony, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and state leaders inspected exhibitions showcasing indigenous defence technologies, including missiles, fighter aircraft prototypes, drones, and advanced weapon systems. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were also signed with defence and industrial partners such as Bharat Dynamics, Agneyastra Energetics, and HFCL to further strengthen India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.
