India Strikes Back: Operation Sindoor Sparks Debate
India’s Bold Strike Ignites Parliament Debate
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju ignited anticipation for a heated Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, stating, “When Pakistan crossed the red lines drawn by India, terrorist camps faced the fire.” Invoking the Ramayana, he compared Pakistan’s actions to Ravan crossing the Laxman Rekha, signaling India’s resolute response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK, including Jaish-e-Mohammad’s stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke, with precision strikes using BrahMos missiles and loitering munitions.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the 16-hour Lok Sabha discussion, joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The opposition is poised to challenge the government over U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims of mediating a ceasefire, which India denies, asserting the pause in hostilities followed direct talks between the DGMOs of both nations at Pakistan’s request.
