IMD Warns Arunachal of Torrential Rains and Thunderstorms Beginning Monday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a critical weather alert for Arunachal Pradesh, forecasting widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across multiple districts starting Monday, October 6, 2025. According to the Meteorological Centre in Itanagar, Tawang is expected to face very heavy rainfall, with precipitation levels ranging between 12-20 cm in isolated areas over the next 24 hours, while West Kameng is likely to experience heavy rainfall of 6-11 cm. The IMD’s bulletin warns of potential disruptions, including temporary traffic chaos, reduced visibility, and the risk of landslides or flash floods in hilly and low-lying regions, urging residents to stay vigilant.

The forecast indicates that the intense weather will persist into Monday, with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall expected across central and eastern districts, including Papum Pare, East Kameng, Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri, and East Siang. This follows heavy rainfall that lashed several parts of the state on Sunday, affecting districts such as West Siang, East Siang, Dibang Valley, and Papum Pare.
