CM Pema Khandu Honors Gandhi’s Legacy on Jayanti in Arunachal Pradesh

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu led heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation, calling his principles of truth, non-violence, and compassion an eternal guiding force for humanity. Speaking at Gandhi Udyan in Niti Vihar, Khandu urged citizens to draw inspiration from Gandhi’s vision to foster a world rooted in peace, justice, and harmony.
“Bapu’s message of truth and compassion remains a beacon for our nation,” Khandu posted on X, emphasizing Gandhi’s enduring relevance. As the devotional hymn Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram echoed through the air, Khandu highlighted how Gandhi’s ideals of inclusivity and moral courage resonate deeply with India’s ongoing journey toward unity and progress. He called on the people of Arunachal to embody these values in their daily lives to build a harmonious society.
The day also coincided with Swachh Bharat Diwas 2025, marking a decade of the nationwide cleanliness campaign inspired by Gandhi’s emphasis on hygiene and civic responsibility. Khandu lauded the efforts of departments, self-help groups (SHGs), and NGOs for their contributions to the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 initiative. “Your dedication to a cleaner, greener environment is truly inspiring,” he said, congratulating awardees and encouraging continued efforts toward a healthier Arunachal.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein echoed Khandu’s sentiments, paying homage to Gandhi’s timeless ideals of simplicity and non-violence. In a post on X, Mein described Gandhi’s message as a “moral compass for humanity,” urging citizens to recommit to building a nation grounded in justice and compassion. “Let us honor Bapu by living his values of peace and unity,” Mein added.
The tributes reflect Arunachal Pradesh’s deep reverence for Gandhi’s legacy, with leaders emphasizing the need to apply his teachings in addressing contemporary challenges. As the state joins the nation in celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, Khandu and Mein’s messages underscore a collective resolve to uphold Gandhi’s vision for a just and harmonious world.
