Hyderabad Airport’s Game-Changing Win: RGIA Scores Global Accessibility Award!

Hyderabad’s RGIA earns ACI Accessibility Accreditation for inclusive infrastructure and services.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad has clinched the prestigious ACI Accessibility Accreditation – Level 1 from Airports Council International (ACI) World, marking a monumental step toward inclusivity. Announced on July 29, 2025, by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), this global recognition highlights RGIA’s commitment to creating a seamless and dignified travel experience for all passengers, especially those with disabilities and reduced mobility.

The ACI Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation Programme evaluated RGIA on critical benchmarks, including physical infrastructure like ramps, signage, and accessible restrooms, as well as passenger services such as assistance programs and communication aids. The assessment also praised the airport’s staff training and leadership’s dedication to fostering an inclusive culture.

As the foundational tier of the program, Level 1 guides airports to identify barriers, enhance infrastructure, and adopt global best practices. This accolade positions RGIA as a trailblazer in accessibility within the aviation sector.
