Heavy Rain Likely In Gujarat, Maharashtra And Other States, IMD Issues Weather Forecast

India is expected to experience another active spell of monsoon rainfall as a low-pressure area moves west-northwestwards from the Bay of Bengal, carrying moisture towards central and western parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Gujarat and Maharashtra, with extremely heavy showers likely in parts of Gujarat and north Madhya Maharashtra. The developing weather system is expected to influence rainfall patterns across several states as it progresses further inland, bringing renewed heavy rain activity to parts of central and western India.

The low-pressure area formed over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal, close to the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh. Such weather systems can play an important role in strengthening monsoon rainfall because they draw moisture-laden air from surrounding regions. As the system moves inland, the moist air rises and cools, encouraging cloud formation and rainfall. Its west-northwestward movement is therefore expected to carry moisture deeper into the country and contribute to increased rain activity across central and western regions.
