Heavy Rain Forecast In TN’s Western Ghats; Dry Conditions Likely In Northern Districts

Rainfall to intensify in Ghats while northern Tamil Nadu continues facing dry weather conditions.

Parts of Tamil Nadu’s Western Ghats are likely to receive intermittent rainfall in the coming days, while northern districts of the state are expected to continue under largely dry conditions, according to the latest weather outlook. The forecast reflects a mixed pattern, with localized showers confined to hilly regions and widespread heat persisting elsewhere.

Meteorological assessments indicate that light to moderate rain may occur at isolated locations along the Western Ghats, including adjoining foothill areas. However, this activity is expected to be limited and short-lived, offering only brief relief from prevailing warm conditions. No widespread or heavy rainfall has been predicted for the state at this stage.

In contrast, northern and interior districts are likely to see little to no rainfall, with dry weather dominating the region. Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected to prevail, as there are currently no strong weather systems influencing these parts of Tamil Nadu. This has contributed to stable atmospheric conditions, reducing the likelihood of significant precipitation.

Temperatures across the state are projected to rise gradually, with several areas likely to record above-normal daytime highs. Weather officials have indicated that maximum temperatures could increase by a few degrees Celsius, particularly in inland districts, intensifying heat stress during the day.

Chennai is also expected to experience warm and humid conditions, with partly cloudy skies and minimal chances of rain. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain in the mid-30s Celsius range, accompanied by elevated humidity levels that may add to discomfort for residents.

The current weather trend is consistent with seasonal patterns observed during the transition into peak summer, when rainfall becomes more localized and heat conditions intensify. Authorities continue to monitor developments, though no major shift in the overall forecast is expected in the immediate future.
