Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Pays Tribute To B.R. Ambedkar On 135th Birth Anniversary

Gujarat CM and leaders honour B.R. Ambedkar with tributes and public events in Gandhinagar.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday paid floral tributes to B. R. Ambedkar on his 135th birth anniversary, as commemorative events were held across the state capital with large public participation. The occasion saw citizens, officials, and students come together to honour Ambedkar’s contributions to India’s Constitution and social justice.

The Chief Minister began the day by offering flowers to an oil portrait of Ambedkar at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He later visited the Dr Ambedkar Statue Complex at Prerna Bhoomi, located opposite the Assembly complex, where he garlanded a full-size statue of the leader, paying homage to his enduring legacy.

As part of the commemorations, students from Rangoli International School delivered speeches highlighting key moments from Ambedkar’s life and his role in shaping modern India. Public gatherings were also held at Central Vista Garden, where attendees raised slogans such as “Jai Bhim” while remembering his contributions to equality and nation-building.

Several dignitaries were present during the events, including Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and state Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja, along with members of the Council of Ministers, MLAs, and other officials. School students, religious leaders, and citizens also participated in large numbers.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tribute to Ambedkar’s portrait at Lok Bhavan during her visit to Gujarat. Governor Acharya Devvrat also offered homage, with senior officials from both the Centre and the state government joining in remembrance of Ambedkar’s legacy.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha Shakti University in Gandhinagar district, which will also be attended by the President. Murmu’s visit is part of her four-day tour of Gujarat and Maharashtra, during which she is participating in academic and commemorative programmes, including a recent convocation event at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rajkot.
