Four Dead Seven Injured In Collision With Stationary Truck In Andhra Pradesh

Vehicle collision with stationary truck leaves four dead, seven injured.

Four people were killed and seven others injured after a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) crashed into a stationary lorry on Srisailam Road near the Nagaram area of Macherla in Palnadu district on Friday, police said. The victims were travelling from Hyderabad to Pamuru in Markapuram district to attend a funeral when the fatal accident occurred.

According to police officials, the lorry had been parked on the roadside after suffering a tyre burst. The MUV, carrying 11 occupants within its permitted seating capacity, reportedly failed to notice the stationary vehicle while negotiating a curved stretch of the road and rammed into its rear with significant impact.

Four passengers—two men and two women—died on the spot due to the severity of the collision. The remaining seven occupants sustained injuries, including fractures in some cases. Authorities said the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, and none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

Preliminary investigation suggests that poor visibility around the curve and the sudden obstruction caused by the parked lorry contributed to the accident. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions relating to death caused by negligence and endangering human life.

Officials added that further inquiry is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crash. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over highway safety, particularly the risks posed by stationary heavy vehicles on curved or poorly lit stretches of road.
