Five Uttar Pradesh policemen were killed in SUV collision on KMP Expressway in Haryana’s Nuh district.
Five Uttar Pradesh Police personnel lost their lives on Tuesday after their SUV collided with another vehicle on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Haryana’s Nuh district, police officials said. The tragic accident occurred during the morning hours and has prompted a detailed investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 10:30 a.m. near the Dhulawat toll plaza when the speeding black SUV, travelling from the Palwal side, reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle. In the process, the driver lost control, resulting in a collision with a vehicle ahead and causing the SUV to overturn on the expressway.
Police said the impact of the crash was severe, leaving the vehicle extensively damaged and trapping all occupants inside. The force of the collision caused chaos on the busy expressway, with dust and debris briefly disrupting traffic and forcing other vehicles to slow down or stop. Eyewitnesses described the scene as alarming, with immediate panic among commuters passing through the stretch.

Authorities confirmed that all five deceased were police personnel posted in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The identities were initially confirmed after recovery of official identification documents from the wreckage, including that of Sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar Yadav. Local police said coordination has been established with senior officers in Jalaun to formally verify and inform families of the victims.
Tauru Sadar police station in-charge Shish Ram Yadav stated that the bodies were retrieved with difficulty due to the mangled condition of the SUV. Rescue teams, including ambulance personnel and highway responders, faced significant challenges in extricating the victims. Cranes were later deployed to remove the wrecked vehicle and restore normal traffic flow on the expressway.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding, overtaking misjudgment, or other factors contributed to the crash. Officials said traffic movement on the expressway was temporarily disrupted but was later restored after clearance operations. The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety on high-speed corridors in the region.
