Delhi fire guts huts, residents evacuated safely.
A massive fire broke out in a slum cluster near Takia Kale Khan, behind Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, Delhi, India, on Monday night, destroying around 30 huts and large quantities of combustible materials, including plywood, timber, and old furniture. Despite the scale of the blaze, officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported due to swift and coordinated emergency action by multiple agencies.
According to officials, the fire was reported through a PCR call at around 11:32 p.m. on Monday. Within minutes, local police teams reached the Balmiki Basti area of Takia Kale Khan Gadda and began assessing the situation. The fire had already spread rapidly through a densely packed settlement, fuelled by highly inflammable materials stored in the area, posing an immediate threat to nearby homes.
A large-scale evacuation operation was launched immediately by police personnel, who worked to alert and move residents to safety. Officials said that some residents initially resisted leaving their homes and belongings, but emergency teams continued evacuation efforts to prevent further risk. In total, 12 people were safely rescued from the affected area before the fire intensified.

Around 20 fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, while nine CATS ambulances were stationed at the site as a precautionary measure. Additional police units assisted in crowd control and ensured smooth access for firefighting and rescue vehicles.
Firefighters battled the intense blaze for nearly three hours before bringing it under control. Even after the flames were extinguished, teams remained on-site through the night to prevent any possibility of re-ignition and to ensure the safety of residents returning to the area. Officials credited the coordinated response of all agencies for preventing what could have escalated into a major tragedy.
Authorities have stated that the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. While significant property damage was reported, officials emphasized that timely evacuation, rapid deployment of emergency resources, and effective inter-agency coordination ensured that no lives were lost in the incident.
