FIR Against Driver of Rahul Gandhi's Vehicle That Hit Bihar Cop

Constable injured in Nawada as Congress leader’s convoy sparks controversy during Voter Adhikar Yatra.

In a startling incident in Nawada, Bihar, an FIR has been lodged against the driver of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s vehicle after it struck a police constable during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ on August 19, 2025. The mishap occurred at Bhagat Singh Chowk, where the constable, part of the security detail, fell in front of the moving vehicle in Gandhi’s convoy.

Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman confirmed the registration of the case, noting that the constable sustained injuries after the vehicle "barely brushed against his feet." The incident has stirred controversy, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.

Video footage capturing the moment went viral on social media, showing the injured constable limping and in visible pain. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, was seen responding swiftly, directing his supporters to assist the constable. He personally offered water to the injured officer and ensured he was seated in his open jeep as the yatra continued. The incident has drawn attention to the safety protocols during high-profile political events, with questions raised about crowd management and convoy operations.

The BJP seized the opportunity to criticize Gandhi, sharing a clip alleging the constable was "crushed" by the vehicle, escalating the political fallout. While the police have downplayed the severity, describing it as a minor collision, the viral video has fueled debates online.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ aimed at raising voter awareness, has now been overshadowed by this incident, with both supporters and critics weighing in on the Congress leader’s response and the driver’s accountability.
