A domestic LPG cylinder blast at the basement of a preschool in Wagholi sent shockwaves through residents on Sunday evening, prompting a police inquiry into the incident. The explosion occurred at a Kidzee preschool located within the Orchid Society premises, raising immediate concerns about safety in residential complexes. Authorities confirmed that while the incident caused panic, swift action by residents helped prevent any escalation.

According to eyewitness accounts, the explosion was sudden and loud enough to alarm the entire neighbourhood. One resident said he was watching an IPL match when he heard a powerful blast that initially felt like structural damage to his home. Moments later, flames were noticed in the preschool area, triggering an urgent response from those present in the society.

In a crucial development, a young girl was reportedly the first to spot the fire and alert her father, who then informed other residents. The timely communication led to a rapid evacuation of the buildings in the society, ensuring that people moved to safety before the situation could worsen. Residents cooperated with emergency responders and allowed officials to take control of the situation.

Fire department officials later confirmed that the preschool was closed at the time of the incident due to it being a Sunday, which prevented any casualties.
