Delhi Yellow Alert Today: Rain, Gusty Winds, Max Temp 19°C

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday, forecasting rain and thundershowers accompanied by strong gusty winds. The capital’s temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 9°C to a maximum of 19°C, with very high humidity levels throughout the day.

The current weather conditions are being driven by an intense western disturbance, which is also expected to bring rainfall and snowfall across the western Himalayan region. The IMD has warned of isolated heavy rain or snow and hailstorms in the region on January 27, with winds reaching 40–50 km/h and gusting up to 60 km/h. The adjoining plains of northwest India, including Delhi, may also experience isolated thunderstorms and hailstorms.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remains poor at 281 as of 7:30 AM, highlighting ongoing pollution concerns amid the weather changes.

• 27 January: Rain or thundershowers with gusty winds. Min 9°C, Max 19°C.

• 28 January: Moderate fog in the morning, visibility may be reduced. Min 12°C, Max 18°C.

• 29 January: Early morning fog continues. Min 9°C, Max 18°C.

• 30 January: Moderate morning fog. Temperatures between 9°C and 19°C.

• 31 January: Morning fog, gradual improvement later. Min 9°C, Max 20°C.

• 1 February: Morning fog persists. Min 9°C, Max 21°C.

Delhi recorded its coldest Republic Day in five years on Monday, with Safdarjung station reporting a minimum temperature of 4.2°C, four degrees below normal. The drop was attributed to clear skies and icy northwesterly winds, though winds weakened later due to the approaching western disturbance. Residents are advised to exercise caution during rainfall and thunderstorms, and sensitive groups should take precautions due to the poor air quality.
