Delhi Weather April 5: Overcast Skies, 30–32°C Max, Light Rain Likely With Gusty Winds Today
IMD forecasts cloudy skies and light rain in Delhi through early next week.
Residents of Delhi woke up to overcast skies on Sunday as parts of the city recorded light rainfall, particularly in east and northeast localities such as Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri, Seelampur, Shahdara, Vivek Vihar, and Preet Vihar. Cloudy conditions are expected to persist through the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with similar weather observed in nearby NCR regions including Hindon Air Force Station.
The IMD has forecast below-normal temperatures for April 5, with the maximum temperature expected to range between 30°C and 32°C, while the minimum is likely to hover between 17°C and 19°C. The weather department stated that conditions will remain “generally cloudy”, with the possibility of very light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 20–30 kmph, gusting up to 40 kmph.
Weather conditions are expected to remain largely unchanged on April 6, while cloud cover and light rainfall are likely to intensify again on April 7 and 8. Although no official alert has been issued for Delhi at present, the IMD has indicated that atmospheric conditions remain favourable for intermittent rainfall and breezy weather across the region.

The ongoing weather pattern is attributed to an active western disturbance, a key meteorological system influencing northwest India. The IMD noted that back-to-back disturbances are expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and possible hailstorm activity across several northern states, with peak impact anticipated between April 7 and 8.
Meanwhile, orange alerts have been issued in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds (40–60 kmph), and moderate rainfall. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid taking shelter under trees or weak structures, limit unnecessary travel, and stay updated with local advisories as weather conditions may change rapidly.
