Delhi Traffic Advisory: Key Roads Closed for AI Summit Finale

Delhi Traffic Police enforces curbs around Bharat Mandapam on summit’s final day; avoid key central roads for smoother commute.

The Delhi Traffic Police has implemented special traffic arrangements in central Delhi on the final day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam. Restrictions are in effect from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM to manage heavy footfall, vehicular movement, and VVIP convoys associated with the high-profile event. Commuters are experiencing congestion and potential diversions on several key roads near the venue, prompting authorities to urge advance planning and use of alternate routes.

The affected stretches primarily include Bhairon Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, Purana Qila Road, and Mathura Road, where motorists may face rolling closures, heavy congestion, or restricted access throughout the day. These roads surround the Bharat Mandapam complex in the Pragati Maidan area, making them critical for summit-related traffic. Earlier days of the five-day summit (February 16–20) saw similar curbs, with additional roads like Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath, Shanti Path, and Africa Avenue impacted during peak VVIP hours, leading to widespread delays and public complaints about travel disruptions.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has drawn global leaders, tech executives, and delegates to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence, innovation, and its societal implications. The event at Bharat Mandapam has required stringent security and traffic management to facilitate smooth movements, though it has also led to reports of gridlocks, limited metro and cab access near the venue, and long walks for some attendees on previous days. Authorities have coordinated with navigation apps to highlight viable detours during restriction periods.

To avoid delays, the Delhi Traffic Police recommends alternative routes such as Tilak Marg, Sikandra Road, and the Ring Road for navigating around central Delhi. These corridors offer better flow for north-south and east-west travel, bypassing the summit zone. Motorists are also advised to allow extra travel time, maintain lane discipline, and follow on-ground instructions from traffic personnel to ensure public safety and smoother commutes.

Commuters heading toward or through south and central Delhi should monitor real-time updates via official channels or apps, as dynamic adjustments may occur based on ongoing movements. The advisory emphasizes cooperation from the public to minimize inconvenience during the summit's concluding hours. With the event wrapping up, normal traffic conditions are expected to resume progressively after 8:00 PM.
