Delhi School Students Selected For International Education Exchange Programmes Abroad
Delhi students gain international exposure through global education programmes.
A group of 24 students from Delhi government schools has embarked on an international academic journey to Germany and Japan under the Delhi government’s global education initiatives. The students from the ‘Schools of Specialized Excellence’ (SoSE) will participate in educational and industry exposure programmes aimed at providing international learning opportunities and career development.
The second batch of students was flagged off by Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, who interacted with the students before their departure and encouraged them to make the country proud. The initiative is being carried out under the APAL programme and other international scholarship opportunities designed to connect students with global education systems.
Under the APAL (Ausbildung Programm für Auszubildende in Deutschland) programme, selected students will get the opportunity to pursue Germany’s dual vocational training system. The programme combines classroom-based learning with industry experience and offers students technical training opportunities lasting between two and three-and-a-half years, along with a monthly stipend during the training period.

The number of students travelling under the programme has increased compared to the previous year. In 2025, 14 students from Delhi government schools travelled to Germany through APAL, while this year the number has risen to 24. Before beginning their training, students will undergo German language classes and intercultural orientation to help them adapt to the new academic and professional environment.
Apart from vocational training opportunities, several students have also secured international scholarships and university admissions. Two students have received scholarships for higher studies at the Fukuoka Institute of Technology in Japan, one student has secured admission to RWTH Aachen University in Germany, and two students have been awarded the MEXT Scholarship by the Japanese government.
The Delhi government said the initiatives aim to provide students with international exposure, industry-ready skills, language proficiency and globally recognised qualifications. Through these programmes, authorities hope to expand opportunities for government school students and prepare them for global academic and professional environments.
