Delhi Police launches free self-defence training camps for women.

Delhi Police has launched a free self-defence summer training camp for women as part of its 22nd Summer Camp 2026 initiative, aiming to enhance safety awareness, confidence, and practical defence skills among participants across the capital.

The programme will run from 29 May to 11 June 2026, with daily training sessions scheduled between 8 am and 10 am, excluding Sundays. Officials said the camp is designed to help women from all backgrounds—including students, working professionals, and homemakers—learn how to respond effectively in emergency or threatening situations.

Registration for the camp began on 4 May and will continue until 20 May 2026. Interested participants can enrol either online through the official portal or offline at designated registration centres. The process is free of cost and will be available between 10 am and 4 pm on working days, excluding Sundays.

To ensure wider accessibility, training centres have been set up across multiple locations in Delhi, including Model Town, West Vihar, Dwarka, and Mayur Vihar Phase II. Authorities said the distribution of centres is intended to allow participation from women across different parts of the city without travel constraints.

The training curriculum will focus on practical self-defence techniques, situational awareness, and guidance on handling unsafe environments. Sessions will also include awareness programmes on women’s safety issues and cyber fraud prevention. In addition, street plays and interactive activities will be conducted to strengthen social awareness messaging.

Delhi Police officials stated that the primary objective of the initiative is to empower women by equipping them with essential skills and improving their confidence to handle real-world challenges. They added that such programmes are part of broader efforts to promote women’s safety and build a more secure urban environment.
