One Arrested As Delhi Police Seize Large Illicit Liquor Stock In East Delhi

Delhi Police seize illicit liquor stock in Kalyanpuri raid and arrest 19-year-old suspect.

In a major crackdown on illegal liquor distribution, police in East Delhi arrested a 19-year-old man and seized a large quantity of illicit alcohol during a raid in the Kalyanpuri area. The operation was carried out by the Special Staff of East District Police following specific intelligence inputs about illegal alcohol sales in the locality.

The accused has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Kalyanpuri, who police said was allegedly acting as a caretaker of a premises used for storing and distributing illegal liquor. Officials stated that the raid was conducted after sustained surveillance, during which the suspect was reportedly observed selling alcohol outside his residence in Block 11 of the area.

According to police, when Rahul noticed the approaching team, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended on the spot. The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including Inspector Jitendra Malik and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Pawan Kumar, with a team of officers involved in executing the raid.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of a significant quantity of illegal alcohol. Police said 275 quarters, 24 half bottles, 84 beer bottles, and nine beer cans were seized from the location. The stock was marked “For Sale in Haryana Only,” indicating that the liquor was being illegally transported and sold within Delhi without authorization.

Officials estimated that the total seizure amounted to around 16 cartons of illicit liquor and beer, roughly equivalent to 120 litres. Investigators believe the recovery points to a wider organised supply chain, and efforts are underway to trace the source and identify other individuals involved in the network operating across state lines.

A case has been registered under the Delhi Excise Act at Kalyanpuri police station, and further investigation is in progress. Police officials said Rahul is currently being questioned to determine his role and possible links to larger smuggling operations. Authorities added that enforcement drives will continue in the area to curb illegal liquor trade, which poses both public safety and law-and-order concerns in residential neighbourhoods.
