Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to Inaugurate NCW’s Shakti Samvaad Tomorrow

NCW’s Shakti Samvaad for State Women Commissions starts tomorrow at Bharat Mandapam.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) is hosting ‘Shakti Samvaad’ at Bharat Mandapam on January 29-30, bringing together State Women Commissions (SWCs) from across the country. The two-day event is designed to enhance institutional coordination, share best practices, and build the capacities of state-level commissions.

The programme will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and will feature the release of NCW’s book ‘Safarnama’, which compiles testimonials of its staff, along with a prize distribution for winners of the online poster-making competition on ‘Stay Safe Online’. This marks the third national-level Shakti Samvaad in one year, following successful editions in Ayodhya and Mumbai.

Over the course of the meeting, participants will deliberate on improving complaint handling, investigation mechanisms, MIS and helpline systems, and reviewing state-specific laws. Discussions will also focus on enhancing engagement in legislative processes and advancing initiatives like ‘Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat’.

The NCW chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, highlighted the significance of the gathering, stating, “Shakti Samvaad is not just a meeting; it is a shared resolve. When NCW and SWCs come together, coordination becomes seamless, responses faster, and solutions more grounded.”

A key aspect of the event will be the development of a strategic roadmap for district-level Jan Sunwai, sharing innovative practices adopted by state commissions, and ensuring women-centric laws and grievance redressal mechanisms reach the grassroots level.

The two-day engagement is expected to culminate in actionable outcomes, strengthened institutional collaboration, and a renewed commitment to the rights, safety, and dignity of women across India, reinforcing NCW’s role in promoting gender justice nationwide.
