Delhi CM Monitors Yamuna Floods, Orders 24x7 Relief
Rekha Gupta assures citizens of full preparedness, directs nonstop relief amid flood fears.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday reviewed the Yamuna flood situation and directed officials to maintain round-the-clock monitoring and relief efforts, assuring citizens that the government is fully prepared to handle any emergency.
Chairing a virtual meeting with district magistrates, Gupta said the Yamuna's water level is "continuously receding" and the situation is expected to normalize soon. However, she emphasized that the administration must remain alert and continue to support affected residents.
As of 8 AM Friday, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge stood at 207.31 metres, slightly lower than Thursday's seasonal peak of 207.48 metres. "The government is closely monitoring the situation. All affected citizens are being provided with food, water, medical aid, toilets, and other essentials. Fodder is also being distributed for livestock," she stated.

Relief camps have been activated where necessary, and residents in low-lying areas are being relocated. Gupta also instructed officials to assess crop damage for timely compensation to farmers.
District magistrates were asked to ensure special attention is given to women, children, and the elderly in flood-hit zones. The chief minister further directed officials to coordinate with Haryana counterparts to resolve water inflow issues from nearby drains affecting border areas.
Posting on X, Gupta reaffirmed: “Clear instructions have been issued for 24x7 monitoring without any laxity. The safety of Delhiites is our top priority.”
