Yamuna Overflow and Waterlogging Trigger Traffic Diversions Across Delhi

Yamuna flooding and waterlogging disrupt Delhi traffic, prompt major route changes.

The Delhi Traffic Police issued an urgent advisory in response to severe traffic disruptions caused by rising water levels in the Yamuna River and waterlogging at Nigam Bodh Ghat due to blocked sewage systems. The affected stretch of the Outer Ring Road, from Chandgi Ram Akhara to Hanuman Mandir, has led to significant congestion, necessitating multiple traffic diversions to manage the flow of vehicles.

According to the advisory, key diversions include redirecting traffic from Wazirabad towards Signature Bridge, Chandgi Ram Akhara towards IP College Red Light, and IP College Red Light towards Shamnath Marg. Vehicles traveling from Mall Road to the Outer Ring Road via IP College Red Light are being rerouted through IP College Red Light, Maharaja Gangadhar Marg (MGM), Shamnath Marg, Rajniwas Marg, Bhiku Ram Jain Marg, Tis Hazari Red Light, and Barafkhana Chowk.

Private vehicles from Wazirabad and Majnu ka Tila heading towards ISBT and the Outer Ring Road are directed to follow the same route via Chandgi Ram Akhara Red Light and subsequent roads. Commercial vehicles from Wazirabad to Majnu ka Tila are being diverted through Wazirabad Flyover, Signature Bridge, and Shastri Park Pusta.
