Delhi CM Meets Farmers, Reviews Welfare Measures And Village Development Issues

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday reaffirmed her government’s strong focus on farmers’ welfare and the comprehensive development of villages during an interaction with a delegation of agriculturists at Jan Seva Sadan. The meeting was aimed at directly addressing concerns raised by farmers and reviewing key agricultural issues affecting rural communities in the capital. Officials said the discussion covered multiple aspects of farming challenges and regional development needs in detail.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister listened to grievances raised by farmers, including concerns related to agricultural support systems, procurement processes, and rural infrastructure gaps. According to an official statement, she directed concerned departments to adopt a more sensitive and time-bound approach in resolving issues linked to farmers’ welfare. The emphasis was placed on ensuring that administrative responses are faster and more accountable in addressing ground-level challenges.

Farmer representatives, in turn, welcomed several recent policy decisions of the Delhi government, particularly the resumption of wheat procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP). They also appreciated initiatives promoting solar energy use in agricultural fields, along with other measures aimed at improving agricultural sustainability. Officials noted that these steps were seen by the delegation as supportive of both income stability and long-term farming efficiency.

In a message shared on social media platform X, Chief Minister Gupta reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government is committed to strengthening agricultural empowerment and rural development. She highlighted that the administration’s focus remains on ensuring holistic progress for villages while improving the livelihoods of farmers through targeted welfare initiatives and infrastructure support.

In a separate development, the Chief Minister also addressed long-pending electricity issues affecting 36 families in East Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area, who had been waiting nearly a decade for power connections. She met the families and assured immediate action, stating that necessary instructions were issued during the public hearing itself. Officials informed that transformer installations are being carried out in mission mode to accelerate new electricity connections.

The meeting, which also saw the presence of Northeast Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, reflected the government’s dual focus on rural development and urban civic grievance redressal. Authorities stated that such direct interactions are being used to speed up problem resolution and ensure that citizen concerns are addressed without delay, particularly in long-pending infrastructure and welfare cases.
