Delhi CM Gifts Students DU Bus Service

Youth special bus relaunched for Delhi University students.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the relaunch of the youth special bus service for Delhi University students on Tuesday, offering a vibrant, student-friendly transport option complete with music on board. Speaking at the inauguration of a new academy block at DU’s Social Centre School, Gupta shared nostalgic memories of her student days, when a similar bus service existed. “This is my gift to students today,” she declared, unveiling the initiative to ease commuting around the DU campus.

Gupta also proposed a mentorship program, urging Delhi colleges to adopt government schools. “College students can teach and inspire school children weekly,” she suggested, directing Education Minister Ashish Sood to draft a plan for this community-learning initiative. Sood, reflecting on his DU days, emphasized the government’s focus on democratizing education across Delhi to ensure equal access. “I see doctors, engineers, and patriots emerging from these buildings,” he said, celebrating the new facility.

DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, addressing the gathering, urged students to adopt a problem-solving mindset over complaining. He highlighted the new academy block, built in 21 months for ₹21 crore, as a milestone in educational infrastructure. Singh called for a value-driven education system, stressing, “We need students to be country-centric, not self-centric, an approach missing for 75 years.” The announcements signal a renewed commitment to enhancing both student welfare and educational outreach in Delhi.
