Defence Ministry Boosts Veteran Welfare with QCI Pact
MoU aims to enhance services for 63 lakh veterans.
The Ministry of Defence has partnered with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to revolutionize pension, healthcare, resettlement, and welfare services for over 63 lakh veterans and their dependents, according to an agreement signed on August 26, 2025. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) and QCI, announced on August 27, aims to ensure “quality in service - dignity for veterans” through advanced digital solutions and evidence-based reforms.
The initiative promises to strengthen healthcare delivery, expand re-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and bolster the institutional frameworks of state and district Sainik Boards. Under the MoU, QCI will leverage digital evaluations, impact assessments, and data-driven policy recommendations to optimize service delivery. The DESW will facilitate coordination with state governments, Zila Sainik Boards, Armed Forces Headquarters, and empanelled hospitals, ensuring seamless access to critical data.
At the signing ceremony, DESW Secretary Niten Chandra emphasized the transformative potential of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and social media in enhancing outreach and efficiency. “This collaboration will drive system optimization and evidence-based improvements across our schemes,” Chandra stated, highlighting the focus on monitoring and upgrading services for veterans.
