CM Vijay To Inaugurate MLA Office, Meet Constituents on Birthday

Chief Minister plans outreach-focused programmes in Perambur constituency.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader C. Joseph Vijay is set to mark his 52nd birthday on June 22 with a series of public outreach initiatives, reflecting a shift from the celebrity-focused celebrations of his film career to a governance-oriented approach. The occasion will be his first birthday since assuming office as Chief Minister, and party sources indicate that the day will be dedicated largely to constituency engagement and public service activities.

One of the key events planned for the occasion is the inauguration of Vijay’s MLA office in Vyasarpadi, located within the Perambur Assembly constituency that he currently represents. The office has been established to provide residents with a direct channel to communicate their concerns and seek assistance on civic and administrative matters. Officials said the facility is being equipped to handle public grievances efficiently and improve accessibility between the elected representative and local residents.

Vijay secured victory from both the Perambur and Tiruchi East Assembly constituencies in the state elections before choosing to retain Perambur and vacating the Tiruchi East seat. Since taking office, he has emphasized maintaining close contact with voters despite the responsibilities associated with leading the state government. Party functionaries say the Chief Minister wants his birthday celebrations to highlight this commitment rather than focus on traditional political or personal festivities.

As part of the day’s programme, Vijay is expected to meet local residents, interact with constituents and participate in a community gathering where he will celebrate his birthday alongside the people of the constituency. According to party leaders, these events are intended to reinforce the message that public service and citizen engagement remain central to his political agenda. The initiative is also expected to strengthen grassroots connections between the Chief Minister and the electorate.

Sources indicate that Vijay is also considering the launch of a monthly public interaction programme in Perambur. Under the proposed system, one day every month would be reserved for meeting constituents directly and receiving petitions regarding local issues and individual grievances. Officials said the Chief Minister intends to personally review important concerns and monitor follow-up action to ensure timely resolution of deserving cases.

The MLA office is reportedly being developed as more than a routine administrative facility. In addition to spaces for public interaction and grievance redressal, the centre will include accommodation and support facilities to enable Vijay to remain in the constituency during review meetings and outreach programmes when required. Party members view the initiative as part of a broader effort to promote accessibility, responsive governance and sustained engagement with voters as Vijay completes his first year as Chief Minister.
