CM Dhami Responds To Rishabh Pant's Appeal For Help Buying Land In Uttarakhand

CM Dhami welcomes Pant's request to buy land in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday welcomed cricketer Rishabh Pant's plans to shift his base from Delhi to his native state and assured him that officials would discuss his request for help in acquiring land. Dhami was responding to a public appeal from the India wicketkeeper-batter, who said he had been trying for nearly three years to find a suitable property in Uttarakhand.

“Anyone who wishes to come here is absolutely welcome,” Dhami said, highlighting Pant's contribution to both Indian cricket and Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said the cricketer belonged to the state, had brought recognition to it and had represented the country with distinction. He added that government officials would discuss Pant's requirements and provide assistance if needed.

Pant made his appeal in a late-night post on X at around 12:46 am, explaining that he wanted to move his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand. The cricketer said he had been searching for a sufficiently large property but had been unable to find land that met his requirements. He also referred to difficulties surrounding land acquisition and requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter.

The cricketer expressed his affection for Uttarakhand and said he wanted to return to his roots and contribute to the development of his native state. Pant has previously spoken about his connection with the hill state, where his family has roots. He was born in Roorkee and comes from a Kumaoni family, while much of his professional and cricketing life has been based in Delhi.

Pant's appeal also reflects his stated desire to become more closely connected with the people and development of Uttarakhand. In his post, he said he wanted to move back to his native place and work towards helping and building the state. His long-standing association with Uttarakhand has remained an important part of his public identity despite his rise through Delhi cricket and subsequently the Indian national team.

Dhami's response indicates that the state government is prepared to engage with Pant over his request. The Chief Minister said officials would examine the matter and discuss the requirements with the cricketer. Any assistance, he added, would be considered in the context of Pant's request as he explores the possibility of establishing his home base in Uttarakhand.
