CM Dhami Approves ₹190 Crore For Hydropower, Roads and Police Vehicles

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions totalling around ₹190 crore for a range of development and infrastructure projects across the state. The sanctioned funds cover a 12 MW hydropower project in Pithoragarh, tourism infrastructure, road construction and repairs, a bridge project and the procurement of vehicles for the police department. The approvals are aimed at strengthening essential infrastructure and improving connectivity in several districts.

The largest allocation is ₹159.60 crore for construction of the Tankul hydropower project in Pithoragarh through the Public Investment Board. The government has also sanctioned ₹4.75 crore for upgrading and expanding the tourist guest house at Chaukori. The hydropower project is expected to contribute to the state’s power infrastructure, while improvements to tourist facilities are intended to support visitors and tourism-related activity in the hill region.

Several road projects have also received financial approval under the state plan. The government has sanctioned ₹3.25 crore for reconstruction and strengthening of the Saudi Lagga Kyari motor road in Jaunpur block of Dhanaulti. Another ₹4.23 crore has been approved for interlocking tiles and repairs to damaged internal roads in villages of Sahaspur. In Pauri Garhwal, ₹3.45 crore has been allocated for improvement work on the Kanskhet-Asgad-Ghandiyal-Dhar-Alasu-Kunkuli motor road between kilometres 13 and 17.

The government has further sanctioned ₹3.31 crore for construction of a 36-metre-span double-lane bridge at Gabbar Singh Camp in Kotdwar. Alongside infrastructure projects, ₹12 crore has been placed at the disposal of the Director General of Police for strengthening police infrastructure. The amount includes ₹68.01 lakh towards pending payments for five riot-control and jammer vehicles procured during 2025-26. The Chief Minister has also approved the procurement of 75 vehicles for the police department, including 21 Scorpios, 26 Boleros, 20 buses and eight trucks.

Separately, the Centre has agreed to examine Uttarakhand’s proposals to add several important roads to the national highway network as spurs. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Dhami that the proposals submitted by the state had been forwarded to the concerned officials for examination. The proposed routes include roads connecting Sikura Band to NTD in Almora, Seraghat-Badchhina, Marchula-Bhikiyasen and Kalsi-Chakrata with the national highway network.

Dhami said stronger road connectivity would help boost tourism, trade and local economies, particularly in the state’s hill and border areas. The proposed national highway links, along with the newly sanctioned road and bridge projects, are expected to improve movement between remote areas and major transport corridors. The latest financial approvals therefore combine investments in power generation, tourism facilities, local roads, bridges and police infrastructure as the Uttarakhand government continues to focus on improving public infrastructure across the state.
