#BreakingNews: Nine Dead In Fire At Delhi’s Vivek Vihar, Rescue Ops Underway

Fire in Vivek Vihar, Delhi kills at least nine

At least nine people have died after a fire broke out in a residential and commercial building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area, with police confirming that search and rescue operations are still underway at the site. The incident occurred in a densely populated neighbourhood, triggering panic among residents and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

According to officials, the fire started in the building under circumstances that are still being investigated. Firefighters were rushed to the spot shortly after the alarm was raised, and multiple fire tenders were deployed to bring the blaze under control. The intensity of the fire and the structure of the building made rescue efforts challenging, authorities said.

Preliminary reports indicate that several people were trapped inside the building when the fire spread rapidly across multiple floors. Emergency teams worked through the night to search for survivors, while injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials have not ruled out the possibility that the death toll could rise as operations continue.

Delhi Police and fire department personnel have cordoned off the area to facilitate investigation and prevent further risk to nearby structures. Forensic teams are expected to examine the site to determine the cause of the fire, with early focus on possible electrical faults or safety lapses in the building’s infrastructure.

The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety compliance in densely built urban areas of the capital. Residents and local authorities have long flagged issues related to narrow access roads, inadequate fire exits, and overcrowding in mixed-use buildings, which can significantly hinder emergency response efforts.

As rescue and search operations continue, authorities have urged the public to avoid the area. An official assessment of damage and a detailed investigation report are expected once the site is fully secured and cleared.
