Massive Fire Erupts on Ninth Floor of Ghaziabad Apartment, Spreads to Multiple Levels

Massive fire breaks out on ninth floor of Ghaziabad apartment and spreads across multiple levels.

A massive fire broke out at a ninth-floor apartment in a residential tower in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, triggering panic among residents as flames spread to multiple floors. The incident was reported at the Gaur Green Avenue housing society in Indirapuram, where emergency teams rushed to control the blaze.

Visuals from the scene showed intense flames leaping from upper floors of the building while thick black smoke billowed into the sky. The smoke plume was visible from the nearby Delhi-Meerut Motorway, drawing attention from commuters and local residents. Strong winds reportedly worsened the situation, allowing the fire to spread more quickly across sections of the structure.

Police officials said at least three fire tenders were deployed to the spot as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching additional apartments. Initial reports indicated that no people were believed to be trapped inside the affected flats, though evacuation and search operations were being carried out as a precaution.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Police Commissioner and District Magistrate to reach the site immediately and supervise relief measures. He also called for urgent action to ensure resident safety and said negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Authorities are expected to examine whether fire safety systems functioned properly during the emergency.

The cause of the fire was not immediately confirmed. Investigators are likely to assess possible electrical faults, household ignition sources or other safety lapses once the flames are fully extinguished. In high-rise residential fires, officials typically review alarm systems, access routes, hydrants and evacuation response as part of the inquiry.

The incident comes amid a recent series of fire-related emergencies in the national capital region. Separate blazes were reported last week in Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida, including residential and market fires. The latest Ghaziabad incident is likely to renew concerns over urban fire preparedness, building compliance and emergency response capacity in densely populated housing complexes.
