Boy Whispers To PM Modi During Delhi Metro Ride: “I Want To Become Like You”
Boy expresses admiration for PM Modi during Delhi Metro ride.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared glimpses of his interaction with passengers during a Delhi Metro journey, including a light-hearted exchange with a schoolboy who whispered to him, "I want to become like you." Modi travelled by Metro on Saturday while heading to Delhi University to address students at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) during its centenary celebrations.
The roughly 20-minute journey began around 7 pm, during which the Prime Minister interacted with schoolchildren and other passengers. He shook hands with students and spoke with them about their interests, hobbies and aspirations, creating an informal interaction during what is usually a routine commute.
In one of the lighter moments, a boy sitting beside Modi leaned towards him and whispered before shaking hands with the Prime Minister. The boy told Modi that he wanted to become like him. The interaction was part of a series of conversations between the Prime Minister and passengers during the Metro ride.

Another student spoke about Teachers' Day, observed on September 5, and described the Prime Minister as an inspiration for the younger generation. The student also referred to former President and educationist Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers' Day, while another student similarly described Modi as an inspiration for people across the country.
The Prime Minister also interacted with other commuters during the journey. He wished an infant passenger an "Advance Happy birthday" as the child was approaching the age of one. A woman from Varanasi, Modi's parliamentary constituency, also spoke to him about the changes in the city and the development taking place there.
Modi's latest Metro journey is not his first use of Delhi's public transport system. He travelled by Metro to Delhi University in 2023 for the university's centenary celebrations and had also used the service in 2015 while travelling to the inauguration of the Faridabad extension line. More recently, in February 2026, he travelled by the Meerut Metro and alighted at Meerut South Station.
