BRICS Summit Rehearsal Today: Delhi Traffic Restrictions On Key Routes

Delhi traffic restrictions imposed for BRICS motorcade rehearsal today.

Traffic restrictions and diversions are being enforced across several key routes in the national capital on Sunday, September 6, in view of a Motor Carcade rehearsal being conducted ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026. The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and expect regulated movement on major arterial roads during the rehearsal.

According to the latest traffic advisory, the restrictions and regulated movement will remain in place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sunday. The arrangements are part of preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit, with security and traffic agencies coordinating movement across important routes in Delhi. Emergency and essential-service vehicles will be given priority passage during the restrictions.

The Delhi Traffic Police has urged commuters to allow additional travel time and use public transport, particularly the Metro, wherever feasible. People travelling through affected areas have also been advised to follow designated diversion routes and comply with instructions issued by traffic personnel. The advisory also recommends avoiding unnecessary travel through the affected routes during the rehearsal period.

The Motor Carcade rehearsal is being conducted as part of the wider security and logistical preparations for the BRICS Summit. The traffic arrangements are intended to facilitate the movement of official motorcades while maintaining traffic flow across the capital. Commuters using major arterial roads during the affected hours may therefore experience diversions, regulated movement and delays.

India, as BRICS Chair for 2026, will host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The summit is expected to bring together leaders from BRICS member and partner countries, along with outreach invitees. The event has prompted extensive preparations involving security, transport and civic authorities across the capital.

The Delhi Traffic Police has reiterated its appeal to residents and visitors to plan trips according to the restrictions, keep sufficient time for travel and prefer Metro services wherever possible. Commuters have also been asked to remain alert to directions from traffic personnel and use the prescribed alternative routes during the rehearsal.
