Bombay Sappers to honor Operation Sindoor with patriotic tunes
Shaniwar Wada to Host Musical Salute on Independence Day.
On India’s Independence Day, the historic Shaniwar Wada in Pune will come alive with the stirring melodies of the Bombay Sappers Military Band, as they pay tribute to the valor of Operation Sindoor and the Indian Armed Forces. The event, titled Echoes of Valour: A Tribute Through Tunes, scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on August 15, promises an evening of patriotic fervor and heartfelt remembrance, according to a defence ministry release.
Operation Sindoor, launched in May 2025, saw India execute precision strikes that destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, a decisive response to the April 22 Pahalgam massacre that claimed 26 lives. The Bombay Sappers’ performance will honor this operation’s courage, blending ceremonial grandeur with soulful tunes to evoke pride and unity among attendees.
“This musical evening is a salute to the indomitable spirit of our soldiers,” the release stated, inviting the public to gather at Shaniwar Wada to celebrate India’s freedom and honor its defenders. The event underscores the deep bond between the military and the nation, with each note serving as a tribute to the sacrifices that safeguard India’s sovereignty.

The Bombay Sappers, part of the Bombay Engineer Group and Centre, boast a storied legacy dating back to 1820. Renowned for their combat engineering prowess and gallantry, they have served in conflicts from the First Afghan War to modern operations, embodying their motto Sarvatra (everywhere) with unmatched versatility. The 34-member military band carries this heritage forward, performing at national ceremonies and regimental events with precision and emotive renditions of martial and patriotic music.
From ceremonial marches to poignant melodies, the band’s performance will reflect the Indian Army’s glorious history and the sacrifices of its soldiers. As the Tricolour flies high, the event aims to inspire unity and reverence for those who protect the nation, making it a fitting celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day.
