Bihar's Shreya Kaushik Wins Fully Funded Lincoln Scholarship in US

Eighteen-year-old Shreya Kaushik from Bihar has been awarded the prestigious Lincoln Scholarship, becoming the only Indian selected for this year's globally competitive programme. Valued at approximately Rs 3 crore, the fully funded scholarship will support her undergraduate studies at Centre College in Kentucky, United States. Her selection places her among a small group of students chosen from around the world for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities and commitment to public service.

The Lincoln Scholarship is named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, and is regarded as one of Centre College's most prestigious undergraduate scholarship programmes. Each year, only 10 students from across the globe are selected. The scholarship covers the complete cost of a four-year bachelor's degree, including tuition fees, accommodation, meals, books, study materials, health insurance, travel expenses and other approved educational and personal costs, allowing recipients to pursue their studies without financial burden.

Born in Siwan, Bihar, Shreya later completed her schooling at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Aya Nagar, New Delhi. At the age of 13, she joined Dexterity Global, an organisation that provides leadership development, mentorship and educational opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds. Through the programme, she participated in several national and international competitions, leadership initiatives and academic activities that helped strengthen her overall profile for global scholarship opportunities.

Speaking about her achievement, Shreya described receiving a scholarship named after Abraham Lincoln as a tremendous honour. According to the Lincoln Scholars Program, recipients are selected based on exceptional academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to create a positive impact in their communities. The programme confirmed that Shreya's scholarship will fully fund her undergraduate education at Centre College for the entire duration of her studies, covering all major academic and living expenses throughout the four-year programme.
