Bengaluru 2.0 Unveiled: Karnataka to Build Massive 9,000-Acre AI City + ₹1 Trillion Infra Overhaul
Karnataka unveils 9,000-acre AI City in Bidadi and ₹1 trillion Bengaluru infra boost.
Karnataka is set to catapult itself into the future of technology with the announcement of a sprawling 9,000-acre AI-powered IT city in Bidadi, alongside a historic ₹1 trillion-plus infrastructure upgrade for Bengaluru, revealed Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar at the inauguration of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 on Tuesday.
Speaking at the 28th edition of India’s flagship technology event, Shivakumar declared: “We are developing a world-class AI City near Bidadi on 9,000 acres — complete with an international complex to house all global business houses.” The new tech hub will feature cutting-edge connectivity, vast green spaces, and residential layouts tailored for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), positioning Karnataka as the ultimate destination for next-generation innovation.
“Bengaluru already hosts around 25 lakh IT experts — no other place on earth has this kind of talent density,” Shivakumar emphasized, underlining the state’s unmatched human capital advantage.

The ambitious roadmap doesn’t stop there:
- Over ₹1 trillion is being pumped into Bengaluru’s infrastructure transformation, including roads, metro expansion, and urban mobility.
- A second international airport for the city is in active planning.
- A dedicated NRI Secretariat will be established to streamline investment and support for the diaspora.
Shivakumar also called on industry giants to partner with the government through CSR initiatives to strengthen rural education, announcing new policies to make collaboration seamless. “Together, let us build a future where technology, creativity, and enterprise create opportunities not only for our state or country, but for the entire world,” he urged the gathered tech leaders.
With the Bidadi AI City poised to become India’s largest purpose-built technology ecosystem, Karnataka is sending a clear message: Bengaluru isn’t just keeping pace with the global AI revolution — it is ready to lead it.
