Belagavi Police Issue Guidelines Banning DJs And Plasma Displays For Ganesh Festival

Belagavi police have issued guidelines for Ganesh Mandals ahead of the festival, prohibiting the use of high-decibel loudspeakers and disc jockey systems during celebrations. The police have also barred the use of plasma and laser displays that could contribute to light pollution or potentially cause eye damage. The restrictions are aimed at ensuring that public celebrations are conducted in accordance with safety, environmental and legal requirements.

Police Commissioner Prakash Nikam has urged office bearers of Ganesh Mandals to strictly comply with court judgments and regulations governing the festival. He asked organisers to follow approved procession routes, pollution-control norms and other directions issued by the police and district administration. The police have also called on organisers to coordinate with officials during the celebrations to ensure that events proceed smoothly and within the prescribed rules.

The restrictions on loudspeakers and DJ systems are intended to prevent excessive noise during the festival. Organisers will be expected to ensure that sound-related arrangements remain within the applicable rules and do not cause inconvenience to residents or violate established norms. The police have emphasised that festival celebrations must balance public participation and tradition with the need to maintain order and minimise disruption.

The prohibition on plasma and laser displays is another key part of the guidelines issued for the festival. The police have also stressed the importance of adhering to designated routes and other administrative requirements associated with Ganesh festival events. Organisers are expected to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and district authorities throughout the celebrations. Such coordination is particularly important during processions and other gatherings that can attract large crowds and require traffic, public safety and crowd-management arrangements.

The guidelines come as Belagavi prepares for Ganesh festival celebrations, with Mandals and devotees expected to organise public programmes and processions across the city. Police have asked organisers to treat the prescribed rules as mandatory and work closely with authorities. The focus of the directions is to facilitate peaceful celebrations while addressing concerns related to noise, light pollution, public safety and compliance with legal and administrative requirements.
