Beed Police Reunite Missing Teen with Family After Seven Years

Lost teen found, reunited after years

In a heartwarming breakthrough, Beed police in Maharashtra have reunited Raju Kakasaheb Mali, a man missing since 2017 at age 16, with his family after a relentless seven-year search. Raju, a Class X student at Sangameshwar Vidyalaya in Nalwandi, vanished after leaving school one December day, leaving his family in distress and without answers.

Raju’s parents, illiterate sugarcane laborers working in Karnataka at the time, did not initially report his disappearance, delaying official action. It wasn’t until 2023 that his mother filed a missing person case at Pimpalner police station in Beed, sparking a determined investigation led by Sub-Inspector Pallavi Jadhav. “We left no stone unturned,” Jadhav said, detailing how her team interviewed Raju’s parents, friends, and a teacher with whom he had been staying when he went missing.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Navneet Kavat, the Beed police leveraged technical intelligence, including mobile data and local networks, to trace Raju to Pune, where he had been living independently. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, an emotional reunion took place at the SP’s office, bringing closure to a family torn apart for nearly a decade.

This reunion adds to their recent efforts, including a similar case in 2024 where another missing youth was found, underscoring their commitment to resolving long-pending missing person cases.
