BCCI Broadcast Engineer Found Dead In Mumbai Hotel, Probe Underway

British BCCI engineer found dead in Mumbai hotel; police register ADR and begin investigation.

A British national working as a broadcast engineer for the Board of Control for Cricket in India during the ongoing Indian Premier League was found dead in his hotel room in south Mumbai, police officials said on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ian Williams Langford, who had been staying at the Trident Hotel since March 24 for IPL broadcast-related work. According to initial information, Langford had returned to his room on March 29 after completing his professional duties for the day.

Hotel staff reportedly became concerned on March 30 after repeated calls to his room went unanswered. When there was no response, staff members entered the room using a master key and found him lying on the floor. The hotel’s in-house doctor was immediately called to the scene and declared him dead.

Authorities said an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at the Marine Drive Police Station. Officials have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of death, though no signs of foul play have been confirmed at this stage.

Langford was part of the technical broadcast crew supporting IPL coverage, one of the world’s most-watched cricket leagues. His sudden death has raised concerns among colleagues and officials associated with the tournament, although further details are awaited pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police said standard procedures are being followed, including coordination with relevant authorities, as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
