Baba Ramdev Alleges Corruption In Government Job Selections, Warns Centre
Ramdev warns Centre over alleged recruitment corruption, threatens renewed protest.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has warned the Narendra Modi government that protests over alleged irregularities in education and government recruitment could intensify if the issues are not addressed. Speaking at Patanjali Yogpeeth on the 80th Independence Day, Ramdev said students were raising concerns over inadequate facilities in educational institutions, examination irregularities and alleged corruption in recruitment processes. He urged the government to take prompt action while cautioning protesters against violence and lawlessness.
Ramdev alleged that students in several places were facing a lack of basic facilities such as teachers, electricity, water and toilets. He also claimed that cheating and question-paper leaks were affecting examinations, while alleging that corruption and money power were influencing government job selections. He criticised what he described as recruitment practices based on caste and religion and said such practices were contrary to the principles of the Constitution. His remarks came amid protests and wider concerns among students regarding examinations and recruitment.
The yoga guru also alleged that bribes were being demanded in some government recruitment processes, citing claims of payments running into crores of rupees. He said widespread protests would make it difficult for the country to function, and therefore called on the government to correct the alleged irregularities. Ramdev warned that if the problems were not resolved, he could once again join protests himself. He stressed, however, that demonstrations should remain peaceful and within constitutional limits.

Ramdev referred to his earlier anti-corruption protest at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan in 2011, which ended after a police crackdown. Drawing on that experience, he said he did not support anarchy or lawlessness carried out in the name of protest. At the same time, he maintained that alleged irregularities in the country could not be ignored and called for corrective measures. He urged young people to fight for their rights through democratic and constitutional means rather than resorting to violence.
Ramdev also criticised growing hostility between different communities and social groups in the country. He said political disagreements and divisions based on caste and religion were creating unnecessary animosity among Indians. Calling for an end to what he described as a culture of hatred and division, he urged citizens to strengthen national unity. His remarks included an appeal to people from different communities and social groups to reject hostility and work towards greater harmony.
On Independence Day, Ramdev said the country's youth should understand that exercising rights also comes with responsibilities. He called on young people to respect the law and the Constitution while raising concerns about education, employment and other public issues. He said protests could play a role in demanding accountability but should not become a source of violence or disorder. His comments combined a warning to the government over alleged recruitment and examination irregularities with an appeal for peaceful, constitutional activism.
