Ramdev Warns Youth Protests Could Widen Over Exam, Recruitment Irregularities Nationwide

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday warned that alleged irregularities in examinations and government recruitment could fuel wider youth protests across India, while calling for reforms in the education and recruitment systems. Speaking after hoisting the national flag at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar on Independence Day, Ramdev said growing frustration among students and job aspirants could lead to further demonstrations if their concerns were not addressed. Ramdev was responding to a question about the Gen-Z-led student agitation in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in examinations.

He said there was growing unrest among young people across the country and pointed to gaps in educational infrastructure, particularly in smaller schools and colleges. According to him, many students continue to face inadequate access to teachers, books, electricity, drinking water and toilets. He also alleged that examination systems were being affected by cheating and question paper leaks, saying such problems undermine the confidence of students preparing for competitive examinations. Ramdev argued that young people invest significant time and effort in preparing for examinations and should be assured of a fair and transparent process.

He called for corrective measures to strengthen the education system and ensure that students have adequate facilities. The yoga guru also raised concerns about the recruitment of government employees, particularly the interview stage of selection processes. He alleged widespread corruption and claimed that irregularities affected “90 to 99 per cent” of recruitment processes, although he did not provide evidence to substantiate the figure. He further alleged that candidates could be favoured on the basis of caste, class, community or ideology, while others were denied opportunities.

Ramdev said such practices, if they occur, would be contrary to democratic principles and would deepen frustration among young people. He also alleged that government jobs were sometimes being distributed in exchange for large sums of money through pre-decided arrangements. These allegations were made in the context of his broader criticism of recruitment systems, but no specific examination, recruitment body or case was cited to establish the claims. At the same time, Ramdev cautioned that protests should remain peaceful and should not descend into disorder.

He said continued grievances over examinations and employment could lead to larger youth movements if authorities failed to respond to concerns. His comments came as student protests over alleged examination irregularities and recruitment-related issues have emerged as a significant concern among young people in several parts of the country. The remarks placed education, examination integrity and employment opportunities at the centre of Ramdev's Independence Day message. With competitive examinations serving as a major route into higher education and government employment, allegations of paper leaks, cheating and recruitment irregularities can have a significant impact on students and job seekers. Ramdev's call for reform comes amid broader public debate over transparency and accountability in examination and recruitment systems.
