Army Pilot Who Proposed at Nashik Passing-Out Parade May Face Inquiry Over Protocol Breach

Army captain faces possible inquiry after viral marriage proposal at Nashik military ceremony.

A marriage proposal by an Indian Army captain during a military graduation ceremony has sparked widespread discussion online and may lead to an official explanation being sought by Army authorities. The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Combat Army Aviation Training School near Nashik, where Captain Bharat Bhardwaj had just qualified as an Army pilot.

Dressed in ceremonial uniform, Captain Bhardwaj walked onto the tarmac after the event, knelt before his partner, and proposed with a ring while an Army helicopter stood in the background. The proposal was accepted, and videos of the moment quickly spread across social media, drawing praise from many users who viewed it as a heartfelt and memorable gesture.

Speaking after the ceremony, Captain Bhardwaj said he and his partner had known each other for five years and that he wanted to make the milestone day special for both of them. He described the occasion as significant not only for himself but also for his family and fiancée.

However, the gesture has also raised questions about military protocol. According to reports citing Army sources, conducting a personal proposal in uniform during a ceremonial military event and in front of military assets may be viewed as a breach of established decorum and traditions. Reports suggest the Army has taken note of the matter and could seek a formal explanation from the officer regarding the circumstances surrounding the proposal.

While no major disciplinary action has been indicated so far, the incident has triggered a broader debate about the balance between personal celebrations and the strict standards expected within the armed forces. Online reactions remain divided, with some applauding the romantic moment and others arguing that military ceremonies and facilities should be reserved exclusively for official purposes.
