APPCB Gets Second Place In Perception Survey On Environmental Governance
AP Pollution Control Board ranks second in survey, reflecting improved public perception.
The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has secured second place in a national perception survey, reflecting improved public confidence in the state’s environmental monitoring and regulatory efforts, officials said. The ranking comes as part of an assessment that evaluates pollution control boards across states based on public perception, responsiveness, and effectiveness in addressing environmental concerns. Officials noted that APPCB’s performance highlights its growing credibility among citizens and stakeholders in managing pollution-related issues.
According to sources, the Board has undertaken several initiatives in recent years to strengthen enforcement and improve transparency. These include enhanced monitoring of industrial emissions, stricter compliance checks, and the adoption of digital tools to track pollution levels in real time. Authorities said such measures have contributed to better oversight and quicker response to violations.
Public outreach and awareness campaigns have also played a key role in shaping perception. The Board has actively engaged with communities, industries, and local bodies to promote sustainable practices and encourage reporting of environmental violations. Officials added that grievance redressal mechanisms have been streamlined to ensure faster resolution of complaints.
Environmental experts note that perception surveys, while subjective, often reflect the effectiveness of on-ground implementation and communication strategies. A higher ranking indicates not only regulatory efficiency but also improved trust between authorities and the public.

The APPCB’s performance is being seen as part of a broader push by the Andhra Pradesh government to prioritise environmental governance while balancing industrial growth. Officials said efforts will continue to further strengthen monitoring systems, enhance compliance, and maintain transparency.
Authorities emphasised that sustaining such rankings would require consistent action, stricter enforcement, and continued engagement with stakeholders. The Board aims to build on its current standing by adopting best practices and aligning with national environmental standards.
