Ajit Doval On Operation Sindoor: India’s Tolerance Should Not Be Seen As Weakness
Ajit Doval reflects on India’s approach during Operation Sindoor.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has asserted that India’s tolerance and generosity should not be mistaken for weakness, stressing that the country is prepared to take risks and respond forcefully when required. Doval made the remarks in the upcoming Discovery docuseries “Declassified: Operation Sindoor”, in what has been described as his first interview since the military operation.
Doval said the objective of Operation Sindoor was to destroy enemy camps, particularly those linked to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The operation was launched early on May 7 last year, with Indian forces carrying out precision strikes against multiple terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to the information provided.
Describing the message India intended to convey through the military response, Doval maintained that the country’s willingness to remain tolerant should not be interpreted as an inability to act. He emphasised that India could take calculated risks and strike hard regardless of the potential consequences, underlining the resolve behind the decision-making during the operation.

The two-part docuseries brings together senior military and national security officials to recount the decisions and events surrounding Operation Sindoor. According to Discovery, the programme features first-hand accounts from those who oversaw India’s response and examines the strategic thinking and resolve behind the military action.
The conflict subsequently escalated as Pakistan launched offensives against India, followed by counter-offensives by Indian forces under Operation Sindoor. The military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours continued for nearly 88 hours before the two sides reached an understanding on the evening of May 10, bringing the hostilities to a halt.
“Declassified: Operation Sindoor” is scheduled to premiere on Saturday at 9 pm on Discovery and the discovery+ streaming service. The programme is expected to provide further accounts from India’s military and national security leadership about the events, decisions and operational response surrounding the conflict.
