7 Dead in Series of Rajasthan Road Accidents Including Sleeper Bus Overturn

Three separate road accidents in Rajasthan claim seven lives and injure over a dozen others.

A tragic series of road accidents across Rajasthan late Sunday night and Monday morning left at least seven people dead and more than a dozen injured, triggering serious concerns over speeding, driver negligence, and enforcement of traffic laws. The most devastating incident occurred in Jalore district, followed by fatal crashes in Sikar and Bundi.

In Jalore, a private sleeper bus carrying around 45 passengers from Sanchore to Karauli met with a horrific accident near Agwari village under the Ahor police station area. The bus reportedly lost control, rammed into a roadside neem tree, and overturned, killing three passengers on the spot. Most passengers were asleep, leaving them little time to react as panic and chaos erupted inside the vehicle.

Police officials said three cranes were deployed to upright the bus and rescue trapped passengers, who were rushed to the Ahor government hospital. An elderly couple, Phaglu Ram (75) and Hua Devi (65), died at the scene, while another passenger succumbed during treatment. Over 13 passengers were injured, with the condition of at least 10 stated to be critical.

Eyewitnesses and passengers alleged that the bus driver was intoxicated and driving at speeds exceeding 100 kmph. They further claimed he was preparing tobacco while driving and ignored repeated requests to stop. Police have registered a case and are investigating allegations of drunken driving and gross negligence.

In a separate incident in Sikar district, a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a car on the Khatushyamji–Ringas Road claimed three lives. Both drivers died during treatment, while another injured passenger later succumbed in Jaipur. Preliminary findings point to overspeeding, though investigations are ongoing.

Another fatal mishap occurred in Bundi district when a tractor overturned on the Mangli River bridge, killing the driver. The incident led to a temporary highway blockade by villagers and family members, causing traffic disruptions for over an hour before police restored normalcy. Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
