World Voices Alarm Over Escalation After US-Israel Attacks on Iran

UK, EU, Russia, Pakistan warn of regional escalation as US-Israel military strikes target Iran.

Governments and international organizations around the world have voiced deep concern over the escalation of military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, warning that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional war. The situation has prompted calls for restraint, evacuations, and heightened security measures across the Middle East.

The United Kingdom expressed particular alarm, with a government spokesperson stating, “We do not want to see further escalation into a wider regional conflict.” The UK emphasized that the immediate priority is the safety of its citizens in the region and advised those in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE to find shelter.

Russia condemned the attacks as acts of “aggression” and urged its citizens in Iran to leave if possible. The Russian embassy in Tehran advised those remaining to remain vigilant and avoid military and government facilities. Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev suggested that prior US-Iran talks had merely been “a cover” ahead of military action.

Other nations have also weighed in. Pakistan’s foreign minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, told his Iranian counterpart that Islamabad “strongly condemned the unwarranted attacks” and called for an immediate halt to escalation through renewed diplomacy. Ukraine placed the responsibility for the strikes on Iran’s government, citing recent violence against protesters and foreign targets.

The European Union described the situation as “perilous,” urging protection for civilians and calling for nuclear safety precautions. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen stressed that all parties must exercise restraint, while the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, announced the withdrawal of non-essential personnel from the region. France highlighted its priority as protecting its nationals and military forces stationed in countries including Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan.

Regional powers are responding with defensive measures. Jordanian authorities reported intercepting two ballistic missiles aimed at the kingdom, and the African Union warned that further escalation could worsen global instability, threatening energy markets, food security, and economic resilience, particularly across the continent. Amid mounting international concern, diplomats are urging urgent de-escalation and sustained dialogue to prevent the conflict from widening further.
