US Warns Of Dangerous Heat As Temperatures Climb Across Two States
NWS warns residents as dangerous heat threatens two states.
The United States National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for parts of two states as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels on June 8, prompting officials to urge residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. According to the NWS, the advisory was issued as soaring temperatures and elevated humidity levels are forecast to create conditions that could pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as older adults, young children, and individuals with pre-existing medical conditions.
Authorities warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and, in severe cases, heat stroke. Weather officials advised residents to stay indoors in air-conditioned environments whenever possible, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated. The agency also recommended wearing lightweight clothing and checking regularly on family members, neighbors, and others who may be more susceptible to heat-related health issues.
The advisory comes as several regions across the United States continue to experience periods of unusually high temperatures during the early summer season. Meteorologists noted that heat-related risks can increase rapidly when high temperatures are combined with humidity, reducing the body’s ability to cool itself effectively.

The NWS further encouraged people never to leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles, where temperatures can rise to life-threatening levels within minutes. Workers and individuals spending time outdoors were urged to take frequent breaks in shaded or cooled areas and monitor for symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating, or confusion.
Heat advisories are issued when weather conditions are expected to create a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses. Officials said residents should continue monitoring local forecasts and follow guidance from emergency management and public health agencies as extreme temperatures persist across affected areas.
