US Teens Allegedly Steal $220,000 Mercedes G-Wagon For Joyride, Crash Kills Elderly Couple
Stolen luxury SUV crash kills two people in New Jersey.
Four teenagers have been charged after a reportedly stolen Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon crashed head-on into a car in New Jersey, killing two people, authorities said. The fatal collision occurred near Route 50 and Third Street in Mays Landing after the luxury SUV was allegedly driven on the wrong side of the road.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, valued at around $220,000, was reportedly stolen early Saturday. Police began tracking the vehicle at around 3:40 am in nearby Longport after an officer attempted to stop it. Several hours later, officers in Hamilton Township spotted the SUV again and pursued it, according to reports.
Shortly before 8 am, the G-Wagon allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a Hyundai sedan. The impact sent the Hyundai into a nearby gas station. Robert Barr Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67, both residents of Egg Harbour Township, died in the crash, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Authorities reported that the four suspects left the wreck and attempted to flee on foot before being arrested shortly afterwards. One suspect, 18-year-old Nayshaun Brown of Atlantic City, has been identified as an adult, while the remaining three suspects are minors and have not been publicly named. Authorities have not disclosed which of the four was driving the SUV at the time of the collision.
All four have been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, joyriding, eluding police and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Prosecutors said officers had lost sight of the G-Wagon shortly before the fatal crash, raising further questions about the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
The investigation into the alleged vehicle theft and the fatal crash is continuing. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the police pursuit and the collision, while further details about the charges and the role of each suspect are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
