Uttarakhand Cabinet Orders Statewide Road Repairs, Ministers To Inspect Roads In October
Uttarakhand orders post-monsoon road repairs and October inspections.
The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Tuesday directed the state government to prepare a comprehensive action plan for repairing roads across the state immediately after the monsoon season ends, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructing departments to begin preparations without delay.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Dhami at the Secretariat, reviewed the condition of roads across Uttarakhand and discussed the need for extensive repair work in municipal corporations, municipal councils, town panchayats and rural areas. The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to prepare plans covering roads maintained by the Public Works Department and those constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The meeting also focused on roads built under PMGSY whose maintenance periods have expired. The state government will provide the necessary funds to repair such roads, officials said. Dhami directed departments to complete preparations and the tendering process during the monsoon so that repair and construction work can begin immediately after the rains.

For urban areas, the Cabinet discussed providing funds to local bodies to improve roads under their jurisdiction. Dhami directed that municipal corporations, municipal councils and town panchayats be given the necessary resources so that road improvement work can be undertaken on a priority basis after the monsoon.
The Chief Minister said road improvement work should be carried out across the state simultaneously and in a coordinated manner. He also announced that he would undertake a road tour of different regions of Uttarakhand from October to review the condition of roads and assess whether repair work had been carried out effectively.
The Cabinet also considered several administrative and policy matters, including the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Policy, 2026, and the Uttarakhand Medical Health and Family Welfare Statistical Cadre Group A, B and C Service Rules, 2026. Amendments to the Uttarakhand Prison Sub-Jailor Subordinate (Non-Gazetted) Service Rules, 2026, and the Uttarakhand Population Survey and Records Operation Rules, 2026, were also discussed.
