US-Iran War Updates: Gulf Attacks, Hormuz Disruptions And Trump’s Warning To Tehran
Gulf tensions rise as US-Iran conflict threatens shipping routes.
The US-Iran conflict escalated further on Tuesday as military strikes, missile attacks and rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz intensified concerns across the Gulf region. The United States carried out strikes on Iran for the 10th consecutive night, while Tehran claimed retaliatory attacks against US-linked military facilities in several Gulf countries. The worsening confrontation has raised fears of wider regional instability, disruption to global shipping routes and increased pressure on energy markets.
Iran claimed it launched missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. Tehran said the strikes damaged radar systems, Patriot air defence systems and other military infrastructure. Bahrain confirmed attacks affecting its civil air navigation systems but said aviation operations continued normally, while Jordan reported intercepting five Iranian drones. Kuwait also reported damage to a power and water desalination facility as well as an oil-related site.
Tensions around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz have increased significantly, with Iran maintaining that the waterway remains under its control. Iran's semi-official Fars news agency, citing a military source, said the strait would remain closed as long as US threats and military actions continued. The route is a major global energy corridor, and any prolonged disruption could have significant consequences for international oil supplies and shipping operations.

Maritime security concerns grew after reports of attacks on commercial vessels in the region. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said a tanker near Oman's coast was struck by an unknown projectile, forcing its crew to abandon the vessel. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed that two oil tankers exploded after attempting to use what it described as an unsafe route through the strait, though the US Central Command disputed the Iranian account.
US President Donald Trump warned Tehran of severe consequences, stating that Iran would face significant retaliation for the deaths of American soldiers. US Central Command said recent strikes targeted Iranian military command centres, missile and drone launch facilities, maritime capabilities and air defence systems. The US State Department also advised Americans worldwide to remain cautious, warning of possible attacks on US interests, travel disruptions and airspace restrictions across the Middle East.
The conflict has begun affecting energy markets, with fuel prices rising amid concerns over prolonged instability in the Gulf. According to AAA data cited by the Associated Press, the average US petrol price increased to around $4 per gallon, compared with $3.14 a year earlier. Analysts are closely watching developments around the Strait of Hormuz, as continued disruption in one of the world's most important oil transit routes could further impact global fuel prices and economic conditions.
